Accounting Clerk

Location: Chicago, Illinois Pay: $24$26/hour (based on experience)

Overview LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing organization to identify an Accounting Clerk who brings a strong attention to detail and a hands-on approach to day-to-day accounting support. This role plays a key part in keeping financial operations running smoothly, ensuring transactions are accurate, organized, and processed efficiently.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least two years of accounting experience who enjoys working across multiple functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting support, while being part of a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

What You'll Own

  • Manage daily transaction flow across accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy from input to posting
  • Review invoices, payments, and coding catching inconsistencies before they become problems
  • Track and apply payments, deposits, and adjustments across multiple accounts
  • Maintain organized financial records that are audit-ready at any time
  • Assist with month-end close activities, reconciliations, and reporting support
  • Work closely with internal teams (operations, procurement, leadership) to ensure financial data aligns with real-time business activity
  • Support process improvements if something can be done better, we want your input
  • Handle high-volume data entry without losing attention to detail or accuracy

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience in accounting support, accounting clerk, or AP/AR-focused roles
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and experience with accounting systems (NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar)
  • High attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies quickly
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a high-volume environment
  • Prior experience supporting both AP and AR functions
