As the business continues to expand, they're adding an Accounting Specialist to their finance team for an approximately 6 month long project, with potential to convert to a permanent role.

Job Details

A growing distribution and logistics company is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support its finance team. This role handles day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is a strong fit for someone who enjoys keeping transactions accurate, organized, and moving.

Responsibilities

Process accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, three-way matching, and vendor payment runs
Support accounts receivable by preparing customer invoices, applying cash receipts, and following up on past-due balances
Reconcile vendor and customer accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Assist with month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accrual support
Maintain accurate records in the company's ERP/accounting system
Review and process employee expense reports and corporate card transactions
Respond to vendor, customer, and internal inquiries on billing and payment status
Assist with audit preparation, sales tax support, and other ad hoc projects as needed

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in accounting, AP/AR, or a related finance support role
Experience in distribution, logistics, wholesale, or another high-transaction environment preferred
Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and the month-end close process
Proficiency with an ERP or accounting system (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)
Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, reconciliations)
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
Comfortable managing competing deadlines in a fast-moving environment
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience considered
