The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of workplace information
  • Effectively manage work activities while completing multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Respond to directives, inquiries, and requests in a professional, positive, and timely manner
  • Perform routine office tasks (answering telephone, processing mail, making copies, filing/organizing documents and reports, drafting/typing/proofing memos and reports, etc.)
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members
  • Adhere to accounting, auditing, and departmental standards
  • Assist in the process of preparing for, conducting, and reporting the results of audits
  • Gather and analyze documents and data
  • Accurately perform data entry and maintain workpapers
  • Identify and research discrepancies noted on document and in data

QUALIFICATIONS:

Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work

Associate degree in accounting or a business-related field

Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or auditing

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software | Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Self-motivated and self-disciplined, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Able to complete assignments on time with attention to detail, accuracy, and neatness

Effective writing and communication skills

Able to communicate in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner

Excellent organizational skills

Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Willing to learn job-related tasks and functions primarily through verbal instruction and observation (on-the-job training)

Must have a valid driver's license

Must provide reliable transportation appropriate to meet position requirements

Must be able to occasionally drive to site locations within Mobile County (mileage reimbursement provided)

Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, move, and transport file boxes weighing up to 25 pounds

Salary Range: From/To Beginning pay - $41,588.00

Additional Job Information

Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo (or have undergone) an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
