Accounting Clerk

LHH is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join a centralized accounting team supporting multiple automotive retail locations. This role is primarily responsible for reviewing, processing, and posting vehicle sales transactions while ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company policies. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys working with financial data and transaction records. This position is temp to hire and will pay between $20 and $22/hr.

Job Duties

  • Review retail, lease, wholesale, and other vehicle sales transactions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Process and post vehicle deals into the dealership management system (DMS) in a timely manner.
  • Verify supporting documentation, including contracts, financing paperwork, trade information, and related sales documents.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies involving deal structures, accounting entries, funding, and vehicle inventory.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries to correct posting errors and maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Reconcile schedules and transaction reports to ensure proper posting and financial accuracy.
  • Work closely with dealership personnel, finance managers, and accounting team members to resolve deal-related issues.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical records of deal documentation in accordance with company policies.
  • Provide support for audits, compliance reviews, and other accounting projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous accounting, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or automotive accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with automotive deal processing, funding, or deal posting is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
