Senior Accounting Consultant (Contract)

Duration: 3-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)
Location: Remote *Only candidates living in Minnesota will be considered at this time*
Compensation: $55-$75/hour

About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established organization in the music, publishing, and digital media space, is seeking a Senior Accounting Consultant to provide interim support during a key reporting and compliance period. This is a hands-on opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and contributing directly to critical accounting and reporting functions.

The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in an Excel-heavy environment, can quickly learn existing processes, and thrives in situations where flexibility and adaptability are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

Support month-end and quarter-end close activities
Assist with consolidation schedules and financial reporting processes
Maintain and update Excel-based reporting and consolidation files
Perform financial reviews and reasonableness checks on results

Accounting & Reconciliations

Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules
Assist with documenting accounting procedures and workflows
Perform routine financial analysis and balance validation
Support the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting

Audit, Compliance & Tax Support

Respond to internal and external audit requests
Gather supporting documentation and prepare audit schedules
Assist with compliance reporting and filing requirements
Support tax-related requests, trial balance preparation, and related schedules

Process Improvement & Documentation

Document existing accounting processes and reporting workflows
Support knowledge transfer and process improvement initiatives
Assist with reporting dependencies tied to current systems and processes

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
3+ years of accounting, financial reporting, or corporate accounting experience
Experience supporting month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and complex spreadsheets
Experience supporting audits, compliance reporting, or tax-related requests
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Experience

Multi-entity accounting or consolidation experience
Experience in manufacturing, publishing, distribution, consumer products, or similar industries
Exposure to audit preparation and tax support activities
Experience working within manual, legacy, or transitioning system environments
