Job Description

We are looking for an Accounting Director to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.

Our client operates within the real estate, construction, and development spaceand is seeking a strategic, hands-on Accounting Director to lead financial operations, ensure accurate project-based accounting, and support continued growth.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, and financial close processes
  • Oversee project and job cost accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of costs, budgets, and profitability across developments
  • Develop and maintain WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules and percentage-of-completion reporting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards
  • Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights, forecasts, and strategic guidance
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and capital planning for multiple projects/entities
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners
  • Improve internal controls and accounting processes to support scalability and efficiency
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff, building a high-performing finance team
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience
  • Strong background in real estate, construction, or development accounting
  • Deep knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and project-based financials
  • Experience managing multiple entities or complex corporate structures
  • High proficiency with accounting systems and Excel
  • Exceptional analytical, leadership, and communication skills
