    The Accounting Intern will work closely with the accounting team to support day-to-day financial operations and gain hands-on experience in a professional accounting environment. This role provides exposure to core accounting functions, internal processes, and financial systems while contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of the department.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Processing accounts payable transactions,
    • Assisting with employee expense reimbursements,
    • processing corporate credit cards, and performing daily reconciliations of key general ledger accounts.
    • Ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Investigate discrepancies and support resoultion efforts.

    In addition, the intern may assist with data entry, document organization, and maintain financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. They will collaborate with team members across departments, respond to basic inquiries, and contribute to process improvement initiatives where appropriate. This position is designed to build foundational accounting skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of financial controls, while offering mentorship and learning opportunities within the team.

    Duration: 3+ months

    Location: STCU headquarters located in Liberty Lake, WA

    Schedule/Hours per week: 20 - 40 hours per week

    Eligibility: Candidates must currently be enrolled in a local college for the entirety of the internship and of at least a junior standing (Masters students accepted).

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
    • Basic understanding of accounting principles (e.g., debits/credits, general ledger, and reconciliations)
    • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and analysis
    • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
    • Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to learn
