Accounting Manager – Close & Operations | San Francisco, CA | 6-Month Contract | Onsite
Lead and manage key month-end and quarter-end close activities across operational accounting areas in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This role oversees close execution, reviews team deliverables, and drives scalable and efficient accounting operations. POSITION OVERVIEW:

• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM PST
• Work Type: Onsite

COMPENSATION:
• Pay Rate: $121.53/hour
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
CLOSE MANAGEMENT & EXECUTION:
• Lead and manage month-end and quarter-end close activities
• Oversee closing across cash, fixed assets, accruals, and operational accounting areas
• Ensure close execution is completed timely and accurately
• Drive close deliverables and maintain high-quality standards
• Manage close timeline and prioritization
FINANCIAL REVIEW & ACCURACY:
• Review journal entries for accuracy and completeness
• Review account reconciliations and flux analyses
• Review supporting schedules and documentation
• Ensure all close deliverables meet quality standards
• Maintain strong documentation and audit readiness
• Support quarter-end reporting and analytical review processes
TEAM LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT:
• Manage and develop team of accountants
• Provide coaching and performance feedback
• Support team prioritization and workload management
• Build scalable team capabilities and processes
• Foster collaborative team environment
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION:
• Partner with FP&A on financial analysis and reporting
• Collaborate with Treasury on cash management
• Work with AP and Procurement on accruals and vendor management
• Support IT on system implementations and optimization
• Coordinate with other business stakeholders on accounting needs
• Communicate accounting updates and insights to leadership
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT & AUTOMATION:
• Identify process improvement opportunities
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual work
• Enhance scalability and operational efficiency
• Support implementation of accounting systems and controls
• Optimize accounting workflows and procedures
• Participate in transformation and operational excellence initiatives
ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS & CONTROLS:
• Support accounting systems optimization
• Maintain strong internal controls across processes
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
• Maintain documentation and audit readiness
• Support implementation of operational workflows
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required)
• CPA certification preferred
EXPERIENCE:
• 5+ years of accounting experience required
• Public accounting experience and/or industry experience in high-growth environment
• Prior team management experience required
• Prior close review and oversight experience required
• Experience with accounting areas: cash, accruals, fixed assets, general close activities
• ERP system experience such as NetSuite preferred
• Accounting transformation initiative experience preferred
