Job Description
Accounting Manager / Controller

Contract: 6-12 Months

Compensation: $60-$70/hour (Depending on Experience)

Schedule: Full-Time, Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

Location: Gastonia, NC Area

About the Opportunity

Symbiotic Services is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager / Controller to lead accounting operations for a manufacturing organization. This role will oversee a team responsible for Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, General Ledger activities, Inventory Accounting, and Master Data Management across multiple facilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, manufacturing accounting experience, and expertise in month-end close and financial reporting processes.

Team Oversight

Direct management of:
  • 2 Plant Accountants
  • 1 Accounts Payable Clerk
  • 2 General Accountants
Accounts Receivable functions are supported by a third-party provider.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the processingand payment of supplier invoices and employee expense reports.
  • Direct accounting activitiesrelated to fixed assets, including acquisitions, transfers,capitalization, retirements, and depreciation for both book and taxpurposes.
  • Oversee inventory-relatedaccounting activities, including cycle counts, physical inventories, andaudit support.
  • Manage vendor master datacreation and maintenance.
  • Support various regulatory, tax,and government reporting requirements.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, andyear-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financialreporting.
  • Review account reconciliationsand perform detailed account analyses.
  • Serve as a key liaison betweenfinance, operations, purchasing, IT, auditors, and shared servicefunctions.
  • Identify and implement processimprovements to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
  • Foster acustomer-service-oriented culture across finance and shared servicesteams.
  • Develop, mentor, and engage teammembers through effective leadership and performance management.
  • Prepare financial statements andrequired corporate reporting packages.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting,Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressiveaccounting experience, including leadership or team managementresponsibilities.
  • Strong understanding ofaccounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with ERP/accountingsystems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong communication,organizational, and planning abilities.
  • High attention to detail andability to meet aggressive deadlines.
Preferred
  • Public accounting experience,including Big Four background.
  • Manufacturing accountingexperience.
  • Experience managing month-endclose and inventory accounting processes.
Compensation
  • $60-$70 per hour, depending onexperience.
  • Full-time contract opportunitywith an initial term of 6-12 months.
