As Accounting Manager, you'll work directly with the Controller and partner with leaders across the organization while leading a team responsible for several critical accounting functions. Job Details
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will provide administrative, technical, and supervisory leadership for the Accounting Department. This position will oversee key accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Payroll, General Ledger, financial reporting, cash management, internal controls, and compliance.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting foundation, leadership experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated environment. Healthcare experience is strongly preferred, while experience working within a unionized organization and knowledge of collective bargaining agreements is a significant plus.
What You'll Do
Oversee daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Ledger.
Partner with the Payroll Manager to ensure accurate payroll administration and compliance with applicable labor agreements.
Monitor vendor contracts and disbursement controls.
Support the Controller with financial analysis, feasibility studies, financial modeling, and strategic initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
Develop and monitor productivity metrics and financial trend analyses.
Coordinate audits, cost reports, grant reporting, and regulatory filings.
Prepare and review audit schedules, supporting documentation, and financial reports.
Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls consistent with GAAP and applicable healthcare requirements.
Evaluate and strengthen internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including applicable Medicare and Medicaid reporting requirements.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
Prepare and review financial statements and related reporting.
Hire, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate Accounting Department employees.
Collaborate with HR and organizational leadership on payroll, staffing, and labor-related matters.
Partner with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals and financial initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Master's degree such as an MBA or MAcc preferred.
5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management capacity.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls.
Healthcare or hospital accounting experience strongly preferred.
Experience in a unionized environment and familiarity with collective bargaining agreements preferred.
Understanding of Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement and reporting preferred.
Knowledge of union payroll practices and labor contract compliance.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a regulated environment.
Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism.
CPA preferred, but not required.
