Description

SUMMARY:   

Manages and performs accounting functions in conjunction with the Director of Finance. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting and protects all company assets. Implements company and department policies and procedures related to financial management. Performs all responsibilities in compliance with various federal and state regulations. Performs responsibilities in compliance with the Colorado Limited Gaming Act and Regulations, Internal Control Minimum Procedures, and all internal policies and procedures. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. As part of your job responsibilities, maintain a clean and safe work environment. Performs duties in compliance with safety procedures, which includes use of safety equipment. Incumbents are responsible for following safety procedures, identifying unsafe practices or conditions, and informing their supervisor or the Safety Committee of unsafe conditions, as directed.
  2. Attendance: reports to work as scheduled, on time, and ready to work.
  3. Manages accounting activities and accurately and promptly produces financial and statistical reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis or as required or requested.
  4. Supervises and manages staff who are responsible for the accounting function, including, but not limited to, accounts payable, recording of revenue and expenses, fixed asset activity, inventory, etc.
  5. Oversees and assists in accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments.
  6. Ensures timely payment of all gaming taxes and other regulatory fees.
  7. Assists in providing accurate financial reporting and participates in the quarterly and year-end audits performed by external auditors.
  8. Posts all journal entries and maintains general and subsidiary ledgers, including the fixed assets ledger.
  9. Responsible for the proper reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts each month and for the timely and accurate closing of the accounting records at the end of each month.
  10. Reviews and interprets unusual transactions, adjustments, or unexpected financial results to determine the appropriate accounting treatment or necessary follow-up.
  11. Assists in the preparation of annual budgets.
  12. Reports to the Director of Finance as assigned, with accurate and timely work.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience using various accounting software products, including but not limited to general ledger and Excel. Has the ability to learn other accounting software programs as necessary. Ability to perform within specific deadlines and under pressure. Well-organized and demonstrated experience in problem-solving and prioritizing work.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or the equivalent in education and experience. Three (3) or more years of recent and related accounting experience, including managerial experience. Prefer experience working in the gaming industry.
