Position Purpose:

The accounting manager will ensure the accurate accounting records for receipts and/ or disbursements within the Company. Duties include performing bookkeeping, cash reconciliation, Accounts Receivable, and month-end closing. Other accounting tasks include but not limited to maintenance of accounting and other records and preparing financial or technical reports.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  • Supervises A/R. Supports accounts for receivable staff and collection functions.
  • Reviews customer aging with AR Supervisor, making adjustment entries as deemed necessary
  • Month-end closing. Prepares and post General Ledger entries for all companies
  • Calculates monthly accruals
  • Provides support to managers regarding AR/AP issues and General Accounting reports, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Supports Controller
  • Supports Inventory
  • Attends accounting department and other company meetings as requested.
  • Assists other positions in the accounting department as needed.
  • Performs any and all other duties that may be assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office conditions
  • Inter-island travel as needed

Work Hours:

  • Must be able to work schedule determined by the Controller or EVP Finance/Admin
  • Must be able to work long and irregular hours, especially during month-end closing

 

Equipment Use:

  • Proficient in the use of a computer, excel spreadsheets, word documents, and other required software.
  • Ability to use various office equipment including but not limited to calculators, photocopiers and facsimile machines.

Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
  • Able to sit at a desk to do administrative duties.

Communication Demands:

  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to employees, department managers, vendors and, customers.
  • Ability to communicate financial information in written and verbal format.
  • Ability to write manuals, memos, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • Exposure to finance and accounting systems
  • Minimum of six years related work experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory capacity
