Accounting Manager
Construction | Full-Time | Reports to Controller

This role is a cornerstone of our finance team. You will directly oversee Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and payroll for 140+ employees -- and serve as the first backup for each of those functions. There is a clear path to grow into an Assistant Controller or Controller role for the right person.

Accounts Receivable
Manage progress billings, AIA/Schedule of Values (SOVs), and change orders
Track retention and ensure timely collections
Oversee Preliminary Notices and Lien Waivers to protect the company's interests
Maintain strong client relationships throughout the billing cycle
Accounts Payable
Manage a high volume of vendor invoices with accuracy and efficiency
Reconcile GL accounts and manage weekly check runs
Build and maintain vendor relationships
Payroll
Process complex payroll for 140+ employees across multiple pay types
Ensure full compliance with Prevailing Wage and Certified Payroll requirements
Handle pay scales, raises, reimbursements, loans, and bonuses
Financial Reporting & Oversight
Prepare and review WIP reports and job cost reports
Support month-end close and GL reconciliation
Generate financial reports and KPIs for the Controller and leadership
Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls
Team Coverage
Serve as the first backup for AR, AP, and Payroll team members
Cross-train and support staff to build a resilient, well-rounded team
Experience in construction accounting -- this is the most important technical requirement
Strong working knowledge of job costing, WIP, AIA billings, and Certified/Prevailing Wage payroll
Familiarity with construction accounting software (Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar) and Excel
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
A track record of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
A bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent hands-on experience
