TITLE: Accounting Manager

We are seeking an Accounting & Finance Manager to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and operational financial analysis within a manufacturing environment. Reporting to executive leadership, this role will support month-end close activities, profitability analysis, forecasting, inventory costing, compliance, and financial process improvement initiatives while partnering closely with operational teams across the organization.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and maintain monthly financial reporting packages and operational reports
  • Analyze costs, profitability, and COGS by product line and customer
  • Maintain bad debt reserves, cash management schedules, and lender-related reporting activities
  • Manage monthly financial close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis
  • Build and maintain annual budgets and support expense management against budget targets
  • Process payroll-related accounting entries and maintain payroll and vacation accrual schedules
  • Maintain inventory costing and support inventory planning activities in coordination with purchasing and operations teams
  • Support payroll administration activities for employees and temporary staff through ADP and related systems
  • Track sales programs, commissions, and related accruals
  • Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash activity, and related treasury functions
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
  • Prepare and file sales & use tax and excise tax filings on a periodic basis
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies within accounting and finance functions
  • Participate in strategic planning discussions with senior leadership
  • Coordinate with external accounting and tax preparation firms during year-end close activities
  • Manage commercial insurance administration including audits, claims, and coverage renewals
  • Support regulatory compliance activities and required filings
  • Coordinate with third-party IT service providers supporting company technology systems
  • Supervise and support accounting staff and related operational processes

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting and finance experience with the ability to work independently in a hands-on environment
  • Experience with manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, standard costing, bills of material (BOMs), and cost analysis is strongly preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills including formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables; candidates should expect to complete two Excel assessments during the interview process
  • Strong understanding of accounting operations including month-end close, reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in both collaborative and independent settings
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to establish and follow consistent processes
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments and stakeholder groups
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software is preferred
  • Experience within manufacturing or inventory-based environments is ideal
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, general ledger reconciliation, and corporate accounting practices is preferred
