Help support our mission with seamless financial operations.At Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), we train guide dogs to create partnerships with individuals who are blind or visually impaired. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to plan, organize, and review all aspects of accounting functions in a timely, accurate manner and supervise and manage the accounting department. Under the supervision of the Controller, you will prepare journal entries, perform general ledger reconciliations, contribute to accounting policy development, complete audits, and assist with various financial reports and procedures for management. You should possess a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to advise on budgets, financial strategy, financial reporting, and forecasting.What you'll do: Maintain all fixed asset accounting and reporting and record all new assets, major capital projects, and loan-related draws and disposals in accordance with policy, working with other departments to ensure accuracyWork closely with the CFO, Controller and Treasurer to prepare accurate and timely month-end close packages and quarterly board reportsAnalyze restricted accounts and develop reporting and variance analysis of the departmental operating budget versus actual expensesProvide day-to-day supervision and leadership to the accounting team and ensure that there is a redundant process backup in place for all critical tasksWork collaboratively with HR team to ensure payroll and benefit policy compliance and oversee and review complex full-cycle, multi-state biweekly payroll for 300+ employees, acting as a backup for payroll specialist as neededTrack investment portfolio transactions (ASC 820 disclosures, etc.) and purchases, sales, transfers, income, verifying that cost basis and market values are accurately recorded by the CustodianDeliver timely filing of annual 403(b) census reporting, IRS form 990, property taxes, quarterly sales tax returns, and Department of Rehab match reportingWhat you'll love: Supporting programs that empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired to navigate the world with confidenceWorking collaboratively with passionate teams dedicated to mission-driven impactPlaying a key role in delivering high-quality client experiences and program operationsBeing part of an organization that values service, inclusion, and communityThe qualifications you'll need: BS in Business Administration with a major in accounting or finance; Certified Public Accountant certificate and experience in a non-profit setting desiredWorking knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and principles of accounting as applied to non-profit accounting practices; investment accounting and restricted accounting knowledge desiredStrong knowledge of automated financial recordkeeping systems; experience with NetSuite and Adaptive Planning a pluAbility to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees with excellent attention to detail and sound judgment skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills and advanced skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookGuide Dogs for the BlindAt Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), we believe that everyone deserves to move through the world safely and confidently – to live the life they want to live.
