Job Details

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role leads a team of accounting professionals, manages core financial processes, and supports organizational objectives through strong financial oversight and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in managing both people and complex accounting functions.

Position Summary
This role manages the preparation, maintenance, and reporting of financial data, including general ledger activities, reconciliations, and month-end close processes. The Accounting Manager ensures compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies while supporting leadership with financial insights and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and financial reporting
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements
  • Supervise and direct accounting staff in maintaining ledgers, journals, and financial records
  • Review reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements for accuracy and compliance
  • Manage fixed assets, capital projects, and work order accounting
  • Ensure accurate billing, disbursements, and reporting related to operational activities
  • Prepare and support audit processes, including year-end financial documentation
  • Oversee tax filings and regulatory reporting at local, state, and federal levels
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support operational decision-making
  • Maintain relationships with auditors, financial institutions, and external stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Lead process improvements and enforce strong internal controls
  • Participate in meetings, training, and community or industry events as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop accounting staff, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and ensuring accuracy of outputs

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory accounting experience, preferably in a regulated or utility environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
