R+L Global Logistics is seeking an Accounting Operations Manager to oversee and manage our Accounting Operations team. The position is responsible for managing accounting activities and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and internal policies. The Accounting Operations Manager will also lead teams administrative and accounting.
This position may be based in Fort Myers or Ocala Florida.
Accounting Operations Manager Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Plans, directs, and coordinates all accounting operations functions of accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Provides management with timely and insightful information vital to the decision-making process and partners with key leadership team to proactively identify opportunities and solutions to support organizational goals and objectives
- Develops and implements major short-range and long-range departmental goals to support broad functional objectives
- Lead, manage and direct the credit, billing, cash application, direct cost payables, order corrections, collections functions
- Administer and enforce credit and collections policies and procedures; evaluate and manage credit risk
- Monitor operating cash requirements
- Develop strategies and goals to reduce exposure to write-offs, reduce days sales outstanding, improve collections effectiveness, and manage days to pay
- May prepare and review reconciliations of subsidiary ledger accounts impacting accounting operations, manage accruals, and forecast cash flows
- Select and manage the relationship with third-party collection agencies
- Handle escalated vendor calls
- Oversees and maintains the integrity of the subsidiary ledger system
- Establish and monitor KPIs and benchmarks for each team and functional area and report monthly trends to executive leadership and business teams
- Design, implement and maintain accounting policies, procedures and controls; verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value
- Develop strategies for continuous improvements
- Participates in external audits
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training and development and performance management of accounting team members
Accounting Operations Manager Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of generally accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations
- Aptitude for leading teams, influencing and stimulating others to find solutions
- Ability to effectively communicate complex issues with internal and external business partners at all levels of organization
- Excellent analytical skills including interpretation of financial statements, financial ratios and metrics
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel & Internet applications
- Success managing projects such as with accounting systems, accounting integrations, etc
- Strong aptitude for process improvement
- Must possess the ability to meet deadlines, work well under pressure, prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and maintain discretion on confidential matters
- Demonstrated success working with cross-functional business units across multi-locations
- Power BI a plus
- Ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast paced and changing environment
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; Spanish a plus
Accounting Operations Manager Qualifications
Summary of Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field and/or equivalent work experience
- 5-7 yrs. experience in financial leadership role; transportation and logistics industry preferred
- CPA or CMA a plus, financial planning and analysis a plus
- Previous experience with PowerBI, Oracle Cloud, McLeod, Cargowise, or other transportation management systems a plus
