Accounting Department Director
DEFINITION:
To plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Accounting Department including data records, accounts payable, payroll, cafeteria accounting, attendance accounting and the general fund; to provide accounting support to all District departments; and to provide highly complex staff assistance to the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives administrative direction from the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services.
Exercises direct supervision over supervisory accounting, technical, and support staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION/TRAINING: (These are the minimum experience and education/training standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for examination, as approved on November 18, 1998.) Six years of increasingly responsible professional business management accounting or governmental accounting experience, including two years at the supervisory or managerial level, in an entity with an annual budget of $50 million or more. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, public administration or a closely related financial field. LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS A valid California driver's license and auto liability insurance.* *Must be presented/available upon offer of employment and maintained throughout employment in this position.

ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION: This is an exempt position, Management Salary Range 70. Most positions in this class work 8 hours/228-days per year. The probationary period for employees in this classification is one (1) year.
