Accounting Specialist

Location: Bridgeport, CT

Our client, a well-established company in the Bridgeport area, is looking for an Accounting Specialist to join their team. This role will support the day-to-day accounting functions of the business, with a strong focus on QuickBooks Online, Excel, reconciliations, and general accounting support.

The company is open to considering candidates at different experience levels, from someone earlier in their accounting career with a solid foundation to a more experienced accounting professional who can step in and work independently.

Responsibilities

• 
  
• Support day-to-day accounting activities using QuickBooks Online
• 
  
• Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
• 
  
• Perform bank and account reconciliations and research discrepancies
• 
  
• Prepare and post journal entries
• 
  
• Maintain accurate financial records using double-entry accounting principles
• 
  
• Utilize Excel for reconciliations, schedules, reporting, and financial tracking
• 
  
• Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation
• 
  
• Assist with additional accounting and administrative needs as they arise
• 
  

Qualifications

• 
  
• Strong QuickBooks Online experience required
• 
  
• Solid understanding of journal entries, debits, credits, and double-entry accounting
• 
  
• Experience with AP/AR and account reconciliations
• 
  
• Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, PivotTables, formulas, and spreadsheet management
• 
  
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• 
  
• Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities
• 
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 
  
• Experience within construction, electrical, contracting, or a similar industry
• 
  
• Payroll experience
• 
  
• SharePoint or other cloud-based software experience
