Job Title: Accounting Specialist - Construction Payroll & Compliance
Location: Greater St. Louis Area, MO
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (flexibility during payroll and reporting periods)
Pay: $50,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on experience

About the Role
This position combines payroll administration with core accounting functions, supporting payroll processing, financial reporting, and compliance in a construction and service environment. You will be responsible for maintaining payroll accuracy, supporting general ledger activities, and assisting with financial documentation and reporting while ensuring compliance with labor regulations and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
• Process weekly payroll, including timekeeping review, payroll reconciliation, and PTO tracking
• Prepare certified payroll, prevailing wage reports, and union fringe benefit reporting in compliance with requirements
• Support general ledger activities, including payroll entries, labor allocations, and account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end close, financial reporting preparation, and audit support
• Maintain payroll and accounting records related to employee changes, compliance, and reporting requirements
• Manage payroll-related items such as garnishments, unemployment claims, and benefits coordination
• Track and maintain company licenses, certifications, and assist with insurance and compliance documentation
What You Bring
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, payroll processing, or financial administration
• Strong understanding of payroll accounting, payroll compliance, and financial recordkeeping
• Experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage, or union payroll environments preferred
• Proficiency with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks, and strong Excel skills
• Familiarity with general ledger processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage confidential financial and employee information with discretion
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience preferred
