Accounting Supervisor - AR/Inventory

The JIB Supervisor is responsible for leading a multi-functional accounting team supporting Joint Interest Billing (JIB), Accounts Receivable (AR), inventory accounting, and payout activities. This role provides oversight of daily operations, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, and drives process improvements while maintaining strong internal controls and SOX compliance.

The Supervisor partners cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to resolve issues, improve processes, and support efficient business operations while fostering a high-performance, collaborative team environment.

Job Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to

• Lead and oversee Joint Interest Billing (JIB) operations, ensuring accurate and timely billing, cost allocation, and financial reporting
• Supervise and develop a multi-functional accounting team, promoting accountability, cross-training, and continuous improvement
• Direct monthly close activities, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis to support financial accuracy
• Provide oversight of payout accounting, including balance sheet reconciliations, payout reviews, and working interest updates
• Ensure effective internal controls and compliance with SOX and company accounting policies
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Land, Operations, Legal, Supply Chain) to resolve discrepancies and improve transaction accuracy
• Review financial and operational reporting, including account balances, trends, and key performance insights
• Provide high-level oversight of accounts receivable activities, including collections strategy, aging review, and issue resolution
• Support inventory-related accounting processes through oversight of reporting, analysis, and control alignment
• Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and standardization opportunities across JIB operations

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within oil and gas
• Strong knowledge of JIB, Accounts Receivable, inventory accounting, and general accounting principles
• Proven leadership experience managing teams in a deadline-driven environment
• Experience with internal controls and SOX compliance
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior leadership experience within Accounts Receivable or multi-functional accounting teams
• Experience with SAP or similar accounting systems
• Familiarity with AR workflow tools (e.g., EnergyLink)
• Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and operational efficiencies
