About the Agency
The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). Services also include support through Assistive Technology, the Office of Business Development and much more. About the Position
This Non-State, Time-Limited (14) position is available in the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services' Ability Works Financial Systems Division. The work requires knowledge of Ability Works financial policies and procedures. Responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to, training newly hired facility bookkeepers and office manager staff in all aspects of their job. This position will also be required to perform the work of the bookkeeper and/or office manager for facilities who have vacancies in those positions. In addition, position will also assist the Ability Works Finance department with daily tasks as needed and other duties as assigned. Some overnight travel may be required.

A thorough understanding of AbilityWorks financial policies and procedures; be organized; pay attention to details, be able to communicate job tasks effectively both orally and written; maintain a positive attitude and be a team player; be willing to travel overnight and have a penchant for being timely, prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and possess problem solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a High School Diploma or high school equivalency and 3-5 years of experience. - Hiring Agency Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. Minimum five (5) years as an Ability Works Bookkeeper or Office manager; plus a general knowledge of computers and other computer-type equipment used in the course of day-to-day business; experience with Client Payroll Manager software and Navision accounting systems is preferred; experience with Microsoft TEAMS, as well as with Microsoft Excel, is a plus.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
