Accounts Payable Accountant

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 + potential flexibility for a stronger candidate

Location: Alexandria, VA - In-office, 5 days/week

• Take ownership of a new PO system rollout and monthly departmental budget reporting
•

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  
• Own day-to-day Accounts Payable, including invoices, check requests, payments, W-9s, and 1099s
• 
  
• Ensure accurate GL coding, documentation, approvals, and timely payments
• 
  
• Review and reconcile corporate credit card transactions
• 
  
• Prepare monthly budget reports, research variances, and assist department heads with questions
• 
  
• Oversee the purchase order system and help lead the rollout of a new PO process
• 
  
• Maintain AP records, reconciliations, and internal controls
• 
  
• Take on additional accounting responsibilities as the role develops
• 
  

Qualifications:

• 
  
• 3 – 5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable and/or budget reporting and analysis
• 
  
• Hands-on AP experience and willingness to personally manage transactional processing
• 
  
• Experience with purchase order systems and departmental budget reporting
• 
  
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time management
• 
  
• Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
• 
  
• Comfortable researching variances and communicating with department heads
• 
  
• Basic Excel skills
• 
  
• Ability to work onsite in Alexandria five days per week
•
