Accounts Payable Manager

Location: Kansas City Metro (Hybrid)

Schedule: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote

About the Opportunity

A growing organization is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead and enhance its AP function. This is a newly created role designed to support continued company growth and provide dedicated leadership over accounts payable operations, team development, and process improvement initiatives. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building structure, improving workflows, and making a direct impact. This position will work on-site 2 days/week and pay starts at $75k and goes up based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of approximately 5 AP professionals

  • Oversee full-cycle accounts payable operations including invoice processing, approvals, and payment execution

  • Manage vendor relationships and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues

  • Drive process improvements, including workflow optimization and automation initiatives

  • Support ongoing system enhancements and upgrades within the AP function

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures

  • Identify process gaps and implement solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy

  • Train, mentor, and develop team members while providing ongoing performance feedback

  • Supervise both in-office and remote staff, prioritizing workload and ensuring deadlines are met

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement and internal departments to streamline workflows

  • Monitor adherence to AP processes and address areas of non-compliance

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounts payable experience with a strong understanding of full-cycle AP processes

  • 2-3+ years of supervisory experience managing teams (3-5 employees or more preferred)

  • Experience developing or improving AP processes, policies, and workflows

  • Experience with system implementations, upgrades, or integrations strongly preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to improve existing processes

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams

Systems

  • Experience with Yardi or similar ERP systems preferred
