Processor - Accounts Payable

About the Job

Books-A-Million is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Processor to join our Finance team. This full-time, hourly position is based on-site at our Corporate Office. The Accounts Payable Processor supports the organization by processing company invoices into the Lawson system and ensuring all invoices are matched against Purchase Order and Receiving documents.

Role Summary

The primary purpose of this role is to process company invoices accurately and efficiently through the Lawson system, ensuring every invoice is properly matched against Purchase Order and Receiving documents. Working within the Finance department, this associate contributes to timely, accurate vendor payments in a high-volume, detail-driven environment. Our ideal candidate has strong 10-key data entry skills and a proven track record of accuracy.

Role Responsibilities

Invoice Processing

  • Processes invoices into the Lawson system for payment on a daily basis.
  • Performs three-way matches for all company invoices daily.

Document Management

  • Scans all documents for future retrieval daily.
  • Retains and stores retail manifest documents daily.

General

  • Performs tasks with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Role Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • Strong 10-key data entry skills with a proven track record of accuracy in high-volume environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or similar program preferred.
  • 3-5 years prior experience working in an Accounts Payable department preferred.
  • Ability to identify, research, and resolve problem invoices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer programs, especially Excel and Lawson.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Full-time schedule at the Corporate Office.
  • Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone, and for repetitive motion activities.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without an assistive device.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, or crouch while performing daily activities of the job.
