Accounts Payable Specialist
Pete Moffat Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to join our administrative support team. This role offers hands-on experience in accounting and office operations and is well-suited for individuals with foundational skills who are looking to grow into more advanced finance responsibilities over time.
As a key member of the finance and administrative team, you will primarily support accounts payable functions, with opportunities for cross-training in accounts receivable. You will also assist with general office operations and help ensure smooth, accurate day-to-day financial workflows.
The ideal candidate is proactive, eager to learn, and works well in a team environment while providing strong internal and external customer service. Experience in a residential construction office setting is a plus.
As an integral part of our team, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities
• Process invoices, expense reports, and payments accurately and in a timely manner
• Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation
• Support accounts payable functions, with cross-training in accounts receivable
• Perform bank and account reconciliations
• Assist with recording financial transactions and general ledger entries
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Assist with audits by gathering and organizing required documentation
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
• Provide administrative and operational support to the accounting team and CFO
• Assist with general office operations, including ordering and managing office supplies
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2-3 years of hands-on experience in accounting (Construction industry experience is a plus)
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace (G Suite)
• Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) a plus
• Willingness to learn proprietary systems (Jonas experience is a plus)
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements
• Sitting and standing: The ability to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time, and occasionally move around the office
• Using hands and fingers: Constantly operating a computer/keyboard and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer
• Vision: The ability to see closely, for example when working with a computer
• Lifting: The ability to carry or lift things, such as boxes, during the day
