Accounts Payable Specialist
Compensation: $22/hour with opportunity for growth
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (some flexibility available) - Onsite
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join a growing team. This position is responsible for processing a high volume of invoices, ensuring accuracy of invoice data, validating purchase order information, and maintaining proper general ledger coding. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience working in a fast paced environment, and advanced Excel capabilities, including VLOOKUP functions.

Key Responsibilities
- Process incoming vendor invoices accurately and efficiently through an automated invoice processing system.
- Match invoices to purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of amounts, quantities, and supporting documentation.
- Review and verify appropriate general ledger coding prior to invoice entry.
- Enter vendor invoices with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Audit invoices to ensure proper coding, keying accuracy, and compliance with internal processes.
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and coding issues.
- Route invoices to appropriate approvers when necessary.
- Perform statement reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
- Support month end and ad hoc accounts payable activities as needed.
- Maintain organized records and documentation in accordance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Previous accounts payable experience preferred.
- Experience processing a high volume of invoices, up to 70 invoices per day.
- Understanding of general ledger coding and accounts payable processes.
- Experience with statement reconciliations.
- Familiarity with OCR invoice processing environments is highly preferred.
- Experience auditing invoices for accuracy and proper coding.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs (required).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and problem solving abilities.
