Our client, a commercial real estate company, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for a temporary engagement in their New York office. This role supports the finance team during a period of increased transaction volume, handling invoice processing, vendor management, and payment reconciliation for a portfolio of commercial properties.
The position requires someone comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders, including property managers, vendors, and internal accounting staff. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with high-volume AP processing and is proficient in standard accounting software.
This is a temporary assignment expected to run through the end of the year, with the possibility of extension based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Process high-volume vendor invoices for accuracy and proper coding
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation
- Prepare and process weekly check runs and ACH payments
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve payment discrepancies
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status
- Maintain accurate records in the accounts payable system
- Assist with month-end close and AP aging reports
- Support internal and external audit requests as needed
Requirements
- 2 or more years of accounts payable experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Yardi or MRI
- Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
- Ability to manage a high volume of invoices under deadline pressure
- Experience with three-way matching processes
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Associate degree in accounting or related field preferred
