Position Summary

The Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for overseeing the full-cycle accounts receivable function across a portfolio of commercial and/or residential real estate assets. This role ensures timely billing, collections, cash application, and accuracy of tenant accounts while supervising AR staff and partnering closely with Property Accounting and Asset Management teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily accounts receivable operations, including invoicing, rent billing, collections, and cash receipts posting

  • Review and monitor aging reports; lead collection efforts on delinquent tenant accounts and implement recovery strategies

  • Oversee tenant ledger accuracy, including charges, credits, adjustments, and reconciliations

  • Manage and mentor AR staff, providing training, performance oversight, and workload allocation

  • Partner with Property Managers and Leasing teams to resolve billing discrepancies and tenant disputes

  • Ensure accurate and timely application of payments, including lockbox, ACH, and wire transactions

  • Review and approve write-offs, adjustments, and payment plans in accordance with company policy

  • Prepare monthly AR reporting, including aging summaries, collection metrics, and variance analysis

  • Support month-end close by reconciling accounts and ensuring completeness of receivable balances

  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable accounting standards

  • Assist with audit requests and provide required documentation related to receivables

  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce outstanding balances

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

  • 2+ years of accounts receivable experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity

  • Real estate industry experience (commercial, residential, or property management) highly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of tenant billing, lease structures, CAM reconciliations, and rent cycles

  • Experience with ERP systems

  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced, multi-property environment
