Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist to manage and optimize their accounts receivable function. This role will serve as a key contributor within the accounting team, owning complex AR processes, supporting month-end close, and partnering cross-functionally to ensure accurate and timely cash collections. The ideal candidate brings strong technical AR expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and account reconciliations
Own complex customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies, deductions, short pays, and unapplied cash
Lead collection efforts by proactively following up with customers to ensure timely payment and reduce DSO
Prepare and analyze AR aging reports and provide insights on collection trends and risks
Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including AR reconciliations and journal entries
Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations to resolve billing and contract-related issues
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements
Assist with process improvements and system enhancements related to AR workflows
Serve as a resource or mentor to junior AR team members, as needed
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive experience in Accounts Receivable or general accounting
Strong understanding of AR processes, revenue recognition basics, and cash application
Proven experience handling complex or high-volume customer accounts
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis)
Experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams and external customers
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
