ACH Operations Specialist
Location: Union, NJ
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Pay Rate: $25/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented ACH Operations Specialist to support daily ACH processing and exception handling within a fast-paced banking operations environment. This role is fully onsite and plays a key part in ensuring accurate transaction processing, regulatory compliance, and timely resolution of customer and branch inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine ACH exception handling related to file processing, transaction posting, and adjustments
- Respond to inquiries from customers and branch personnel; conduct preliminary research on suspicious items as needed
- Ensure compliance with Federal regulations and industry rules, including NACHA, Regulation E, and internal risk management standards
- Complete General Ledger (GL) entries related to ACH items and processed transactions
- Proactively contact branches and customers to explain and resolve bank-initiated account activity
- Develop a strong working knowledge of ACH systems, regulations, and processes across commercial, small business, and consumer accounts
- Assist with ACH maintenance, exception handling, and dispute processing
Qualifications
- Prior banking or financial operations experience preferred
- Familiarity with ACH processing, NACHA rules, and payment operations is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to research, problem-solve, and communicate effectively
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
