Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Supervisor

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is currently recruiting for an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Supervisor to provide leadership and oversight for a multidisciplinary behavioral health team delivering intensive, community-focused services. This position plays a key role in guiding staff, coordinating services, and working directly with adults experiencing serious mental health conditions to promote recovery, community integration, and improved quality of life. Established in 1971, the Hampton–Newport News Community Services Board delivers comprehensive behavioral health services to residents of Hampton and Newport News, Virginia. Programs are designed to support children and adults experiencing mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders, with a focus on accessible, person-centered care.
The ACT Supervisor is responsible for directing the day-to-day functions of the team while maintaining an active role in client care and clinical oversight. Key responsibilities include overseeing intake and assessment activities, assisting staff with treatment planning, and ensuring individuals receive coordinated and person-centered services that support recovery and community stability. The Supervisor will review client progress, provide guidance on complex situations, and monitor documentation to ensure compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
This position also plays an important role in crisis intervention, advocacy efforts, and discharge coordination to promote continuity of care. The Supervisor will provide coaching, training, and ongoing support to team members, assist with staff orientation, and maintain collaborative relationships with hospitals, community organizations, and public safety partners. Additional responsibilities include supporting program improvement initiatives, reinforcing policy and procedure compliance, and helping maximize operational effectiveness and service quality.
Qualified applicants should possess strong clinical decision-making skills and the ability to effectively lead and support a multidisciplinary team. Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity is highly desirable. Candidates must also be proficient in using electronic health record systems and other digital platforms for documentation, clinical assessments, service tracking, and insurance authorization processes.
