The Hampton–Newport News Community Services Board is seeking an experienced and motivated Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Supervisor to lead a dedicated team providing high-quality, community-based mental health services. This leadership role combines direct client engagement with team oversight, supporting individuals with serious mental health needs in achieving stability, independence, and overall wellness. This role also supports professional growth, offering eligibility for clinical licensure supervision hours for those pursuing Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credentials. Established in 1971, the Hampton–Newport News Community Services Board delivers comprehensive behavioral health services to residents of Hampton and Newport News, Virginia. Programs are designed to support children and adults experiencing mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders, with a focus on accessible, person-centered care.
In this role, the ACT Supervisor will oversee daily team operations while also providing direct clinical services. Responsibilities include conducting and supervising comprehensive client assessments, guiding the development and implementation of individualized service plans, and ensuring coordination with internal and external providers. The Supervisor will support staff in managing complex cases, monitor client progress, and ensure accurate and timely documentation.
Additional duties include crisis response, advocacy, and facilitating transitions of care through effective discharge planning. The Supervisor will train and mentor staff, support onboarding efforts, and collaborate with community partners such as healthcare systems and law enforcement agencies. This position also contributes to program development, policy adherence, and efficient use of resources to strengthen service delivery outcomes.
Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical judgment and leadership ability, with prior supervisory experience preferred. Comfort with electronic systems for documentation, assessments, and insurance authorizations is essential.
