Active Older Adults Fitness Instructor
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible fr promoting fitness and wellness through the YMCA Group Exercise program with a commitment to serving the active older adults in their pursuit of health and well-being.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Lead quality group fitness classes, as directed by the Healthy Living Director, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
- Conduct energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes.
- Be able to respond and follow YMCA policies and procedures in emergency situations.
- Be punctual for all classes.
- If not able to facilitate a scheduled class, secure a substitute and inform the Healthy Living Director.
- Maintain all equipment used in all Group Fitness rooms and assist in keeping all rooms in proper order.
- Attend all department staff meetings.
- Follow and support in actions and words all YMCA policies and procedures. Positively promote all YMCA programs to members and the community.
- Demonstrate the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through actions, words and attitude to YMCA members and all YMCA team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 year of experience teaching active older adults in group fitness settings preferred.
- Aquatics group exercise experience preferred.
- Required Certifications: CPR, AED, National Certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Certification. Senior fitness specialty preferred.
- Demonstrated excellent customer service and communication skills
