Avalon View Health & Wellness is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and creative Activity Aide to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals who have experience working with older adults, including those living with dementia and Alzheimer's disease, and who enjoy creating engaging activities and memorable events.

 

As an Activity Aide, you will play an important role in enhancing our residents' quality of life by providing opportunities for socialization, purpose, and meaningful engagement. You will work closely with the Activity Director to develop and facilitate programs that honor each resident's unique interests, abilities, life experiences, and cognitive needs.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in planning and leading daily activity programs including arts and crafts, games, music, exercise programs, sensory activities, educational programs, religious services, and community outings.

  • Develop and facilitate activities that are meaningful and appropriate for residents living with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

  • Encourage resident participation through both group and one-on-one engagement opportunities.

  • Assist with planning and coordinating special events, holiday celebrations, family nights, and community partnerships.

  • Help maintain activity calendars, resident preference profiles, and required documentation.

  • Support the Activity Director with supply management, receipts, and event preparation.

  • Assist with Resident Council meetings and resident feedback initiatives.

  • Foster a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment that promotes dignity, independence, and person-centered care.

  • Build meaningful relationships with residents, families, volunteers, and community partners.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous experience working with older adults, seniors, individuals with dementia, or Alzheimer's disease required. 

  • Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, or healthcare settings preferred.

  • Experience with event planning, recreational programming, activity coordination, childcare, education, or community engagement is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to be creative, energetic, patient, and compassionate.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Activity certification is preferred but not required.

Pay: Non-Exempt, Hourly | Starting at $16.00 per hour
