What We're Looking For:
- A bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation, education, or a healthcare-related field is preferred.
- Alternatively, two years of senior living activities experience in a licensed healthcare setting within the last five years.
- Activities certification is a plus!
- Creativity in developing and implementing activities for seniors.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for working with seniors.
- Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
Your Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead a variety of recreational and educational activities, including current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, off-campus outings, special events, and one-on-one visits.
- Create and distribute monthly calendars and other promotional materials.
- Conduct interviews and develop individual resident assessments to tailor recreational programs to their needs and interests.
- Suggest fun activities to relatives for use upon discharge of residents and connect them with community recreation resources.
- Coordinate Resident Council and family meetings, and arrange special meetings to address interests and provide educational opportunities.
- Ensure residents move safely to and from recreational areas.
- Maintain reports, studies, and schedules in line with state and federal regulations.
- Purchase and inventory supplies and equipment, and ensure recreational equipment is clean and well-maintained.
- Communicate the goals and objectives of the recreational program to staff, volunteers, relatives, and the public.
- Direct and train volunteers in their activities.
- Transport residents to off-site activities.
