Job Summary
The Activities Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of a therapeutic activities program that meets the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of our resident Elders. This role requires a creative, high-energy individual who can pivot between the structured social environment of Assisted Living and the specialized, sensory-based needs of Memory Care.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Development & Execution

  • Calendar Management: Create and post monthly activity calendars that include a variety of "Life Enrichment" pillars: Physical, Cognitive, Social, Spiritual, and Creative.
  • AL/MC Specialization: Tailor specific programming for Memory Care that focuses on reminiscence, sensory stimulation, and failure-free activities.
  • Outings: Plan and execute community excursions (scenic drives, shopping trips, lunches) including safe transport via the community shuttle bus/mini-van.
  • Special Events: Coordinate holiday parties, family nights, and themed "signature" events to foster community spirit.
2. Resident Engagement & Assessment

  • Life Stories: Conduct initial "Life Interest" interviews with new Elders and families to personalize their care plans.
  • One-on-One Interaction: Provide individual room visits for Elders who are unable or unwilling to attend group sessions to prevent isolation.
  • Meetings: Hold interactive Elder meetings monthly to obtain satisfaction within the Elder community
  • Behavioral Support: Use activities as a non-pharmacological intervention to reduce "sundowning" or agitation in Memory Care Elders.
3. Administrative & Leadership

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate daily attendance records and participate in Elder Care Plan meetings to report on social progress.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Coordinate with volunteers on a weekly basis to provide support with activities.
  • Budgeting: Manage the monthly activities budget, ensuring supplies are stocked while remaining cost-effective.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High School Diploma required
  • Certification: Dementia and Mental Health Certification, active HCA/CNA, Nurse Delegation Certifications preferred
  • Technical Skills: Microsoft Office, Basic Computer Literacy
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and safely assist residents in and out of wheelchairs or transport vans.
  • Licensing: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Performance Indicators

  • Participation Rates: Maintaining a high percentage of Elder engagement across all care levels.
  • Family Satisfaction: Positive feedback regarding the variety and quality of the monthly calendar.
Survey Readiness: Ensuring all activity documentation meets State and Federal regulatory requirements
