Activities Personnel II
STATUS: Permanent/Full Time/ Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Community Center REPORTS TO: Community Center Director SALARY: $15.50 per hour Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitors attendance of the recreational area with the priority area for children K – 12.
Ensures participants follow the rules and regulations of the Community Center, documenting occurrences, such as incidences and injury/illness reports.
Assists Coordinator in planning and implementation of organized sport activities (indoors/outdoors) – may be inclusive of organizing local volunteer coaches.
Conduct recreational activities to age groups to include children, youth, teen, young adult, and adults – with the priority are being children K-12.
Must assist with events such as Fundraisers, Winter Camp, Easter Egg Hunt, Nuwuvi Days, Indian Days, Halloween, Thanksgiving Finner, Christmas Dinner, Toys for Tots, and other scheduled events.
Help build self-esteem of participants through a comprehensive recreation/organized sports programs.
Communicate effectively with co-workers, children, parents, and Chemehuevi community members.
Requires cleaning the Community Center, Weight Room, Gymnasium, and/or other recreation areas every day or as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICAITONS:
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be physically active
Valid Driver’s License required and must be insurable (good driving record)
High School diploma or equivalent
Self-starter that can work with youth without constant supervision
Must be available to work flexible hours, evenings, and Saturdays
Other Requirements:
Submit to pre-employment Drug Screening.
Submit to pre-employment background check – due to working with community children
Comply with Drug-Free Workplace Policy
Preferred: Background in coaching/organizing recreational activities and/or organized sports.
Preferred: Food Handler’s, First Aid, and CPR Certification, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Lifeguard Certification Preferred.
Preferred: Experience working with one or more of the following: Soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, swimming, track, football, etc.
Understanding of the dynamics of organized sports and how they assist in the development of self-esteem and pride
