Description
Our client, an insurance company based in Philadelphia, is hiring an Actuarial Analyst to support pricing, reserving, and risk assessment functions within its property and casualty division. This role works closely with senior actuaries and underwriting teams to analyze loss data, develop rate indications, and monitor portfolio performance.
The position involves building and maintaining actuarial models, preparing regulatory filings, and translating quantitative findings into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders. Candidates should be comfortable working with large datasets and have a solid foundation in statistics and financial mathematics.
This is an on-site role based at the company's Philadelphia headquarters, with opportunities to progress toward actuarial credentialing exams supported by the employer.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain pricing and reserving models for property and casualty lines
Analyze loss trends, claims data, and exposure information to support rate recommendations
Prepare actuarial exhibits and documentation for regulatory rate filings
Collaborate with underwriting and finance teams on portfolio performance reviews
Assist in quarterly reserve analysis and financial reporting cycles
Validate data integrity across internal systems and third-party sources
Support ad hoc analyses for management on emerging risk trends
Document modeling assumptions and methodology for internal audit purposes
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field
2 or more years of actuarial or analytical experience in insurance
Progress toward Associate of the Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society credentials
Proficiency in Excel and at least one statistical or programming language such as SQL, R, or Python
Strong understanding of insurance ratemaking and reserving concepts
Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Experience with actuarial software such as SAS, Arius, or ResQ is a plus
