Acute Care & Emergency Department Clinical Supervisor

    Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Department: Leadership Clinical / Medical-Surgical & Emergency Services

    Location: Great Falls, Montana

We have partnered closely with a prominent healthcare system in Montana to secure a dynamic clinical leader for their acute care and emergency services division. We are currently seeking an experienced Acute Care & Emergency Department Clinical Supervisor to foster an integrated nursing team approach and oversee staff development in Great Falls, Montana.

In this dual-impact leadership role, you will work directly with the Department Director to guide nursing staff through education, competencies, performance evaluations, and quality/safety initiatives. In addition to administrative oversight—such as scheduling, huddles, and compliance tracking—you will provide hands-on bedside support during peak census or acuity surges across Med/Surg, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Emergency settings.

    Responsibilities:

    • Partner with the Department Director to lead, organize, and direct daily operations across the Acute Care (Med/Surg) and Emergency Departments.
    • Drive staff development, departmental competencies, onboarding, educational events, and annual evaluations to help nursing and care teams reach their full professional potential.
    • Manage departmental scheduling, timecard edits, interviewing, quality data collection, incident report tracking, sick call logs, and daily team huddles.
    • Step in to assist with direct floor care across Med/Surg, Pediatric, Geriatric, and ED patient populations when patient volume or acuity exceeds scheduled staffing levels.
    • Provide clear operational direction to Charge Nurses, RNs, LPNs, CNAs, Ward Clerks, and Technicians while collaborating closely with House Supervisors, Physicians, Mid-Level Providers, and C-Suite Leadership.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
    • Licensure & Certifications:
      • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Montana (or immediate eligibility to obtain).
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
      • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certifications (required or must obtain within 6 months of hire).
    • Clinical Experience: Minimum of 7 years of hands-on RN clinical experience within a Medical-Surgical, Acute Care, or Emergency Department setting.
    • Core Competencies:
      • Demonstrated leadership capability with a strong foundation in basic and advanced nursing principles, acute clinical decision-making, and customary emergency/acute care medical equipment.
      • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.
      • Ability to balance administrative leadership with active, high-acuity bedside nursing support.

    Benefits:

    • Competitive base salary range commensurate with leadership and clinical experience.
    • Comprehensive health and insurance benefits covering medical, dental, vision, life, and disability plans.
    • Retirement savings program with employer matching contributions.
    • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holiday package to support work-life balance.
    • Relocation assistance options for qualified out-of-state candidates.
    • Professional growth and continuing education support to advance clinical leadership pathways.

Note on Compensation & Hiring Requirements: Final base salary and overall financial packages will be verified and determined by the organization based on your documented years of acute/emergency clinical practice, advanced certifications, and leadership history. All job offers are strictly contingent upon the successful completion of standard pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check, drug screening, health/immunization verification, and full credentialing.

Note on Employment Status: The comprehensive benefits package and leadership structures detailed above are explicitly offered for full-time positions. Eligible benefits may vary or be prorated for alternative employment arrangements.
