What You'll Be Doing

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, mobility, and comfort needs
  • Obtain and document vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other assigned patient information
  • Monitor patient status and communicate observations and concerns to the nursing team
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient transportation
  • Support patients and families by providing compassionate care and excellent customer service
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment
  • Process patient charts, documentation, admissions, transfers, and discharge information
  • Enter orders and support electronic medical record workflows as assigned
  • Coordinate communication between departments, providers, and care team members
  • Order, stock, and maintain supplies and equipment
  • Support unit operations and assist with department workflow needs

This is a dynamic role that balances direct patient care with administrative and unit support responsibilities.

You'll spend part of your day interacting with patients and families, helping meet their care needs and ensuring their comfort. You'll also support the clinical team through documentation, communication, coordination, and other operational responsibilities that help keep the unit running efficiently.

Orientation Requirement

Full-Time, Part-Time, and PRN team members must be able to commit to full-time orientation hours during the first 6–8 weeks of employment.

Orientation consists of three 12-hour day shifts (7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.) each week and includes patient care training, electronic medical record education, competency validation, and unit-specific onboarding.

What Is Required (Education)

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous healthcare experience
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge
  • Previous experience with electronic medical records
  • Experience providing customer service in a healthcare or service-focused environment

Additional Requirements

  • BLS certification required by the end of orientation and must be maintained throughout employment
  • Basic EKG certification with a score of 80% or greater to support Monitor Technician responsibilities as needed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math and computer proficiency
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and healthcare team members
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and changing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while working with patients and families experiencing stress, fear, or anxiety
  • Ability to safely assist with patient mobility, transfers, lifting, and positioning
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including regularly lifting up to 100 pounds and supporting patient movement activities
  • Successful completion of organization, unit, and job-specific competencies within the orientation period
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and exceptional customer service standards
