  • Prescribe and manage medications for substance use disorders during pregnancy and lactation, including buprenorphine and other evidence-based therapies.
  • Coordinate methadone treatment with opioid treatment programs.

  • Order and interpret laboratory and toxicology testing, review the state Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, and maintain timely clinical documentation.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences, quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and perinatal care planning.
  • Fulfill applicable confidentiality, mandated reporting, and Plans of Safe Care requirements.

Candidate Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency.
  • Board certification in Addiction Medicine through ABPM or AOA, or Addiction Psychiatry through ABPN.
  • Current unrestricted DEA registration for Schedules II–V.
  • Clinical experience treating substance use disorders, including the management of medications for opioid use disorder.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based perinatal addiction treatment, trauma-informed care, controlled-substance regulations, and applicable reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary care model and communicate with patients and families in a respectful, non-stigmatizing manner.

Fellowship training in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry is preferred. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience treating pregnant and postpartum patients, providing outpatient or telehealth-based addiction care, collaborating with opioid treatment programs and child welfare systems, or participating in perinatal quality improvement initiatives.
