Adjunct Brass Private/Group Lesson Musician (Part-Time, One-Year Position; Begins Late August 2026)

Job Summary:

Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the School currently enrolls 940 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members who, in addition to assistant teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work together to ensure that the School lives up to its Mission to “educate students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse, democratic society and global community.”

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Adjunct Brass Musician for the 2026-2027 school year. Our school offers instrumental music for grades 6-12. We are looking for someone who has experience and expertise in teaching brass instruments (e.g. trumpet, baritone, trombone, horn & tuba) to students in grades 6 through 12.


In addition to working as a brass private/group lesson instructor, we are seeking a candidate who has experience working with middle school and high school bands through private lessons and sectionals. Close collaboration with department colleagues is necessary in implementing our curricular goals. Flexibility, creativity, and a sense of humor are highly desirable qualities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Music or a closely related discipline
  • Private lesson teaching experience
  • Experience with band directing/musical leadership
  • Experience with brass ensembles
  • Experience with wide-ranging and diverse musical cultures
  • Experience with Jazz music and improvisation
  • Experience with digital communication and organization (Google suite)


Compensation:
$80 per hour; this position is not eligible for benefits.
