Department: Criminal JusticeSalary: Commensurate with Experience/EducationDescription:Adjuncts are part-time faculty positions at less than 50% FTE. They are appointed on a semester-by-semester basis. These appointments correlate to an average of 8 hours per week per class.The Department of Criminal Justice and Social Work of the University of Houston Downtown seeks Criminal Justice adjunct faculty to teach undergraduates in the applicant's area of expertise.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications* A Master's Degree, and a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice or Criminology course work, OR a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degreePreferred Qualifications* A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or CriminologyDue to subject-matter credentialing, initial preference will go to candidates with a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology for allcriminal justice courses.Secondarily, those with a Master's Degree and a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice orCriminology coursework will receive preference.Finally, applicants with a J.D. but who do not possess either 1) a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology or 2) a Master's Degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice or Criminology, may be hired.
