Adjunct Elementary Music Methods

Position Summary:

The Cline School of Music at North Greenville University is taking applications for an adjunct elementary music methods instructor.

North Greenville University is a teaching university of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and is a tobacco and alcohol-free campus. All NGU professors are expected to be orthodox Christians who have a strong personal faith, are role models in their piety and ethics, are regularly reflecting upon how their faith influences their discipline and are willing and able to mentor students in their own relationship with Jesus Christ.

Faculty of the University shall, by accepting each year's employment agreement, annually

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach the elementary methods course
• Prepare for course by organizing and becoming familiar with student material
• Prepare lesson plans and course material as required
• Effectively organize and present subject matter to students
• Objectively assess students for academic performance
• Ensure security of assessment tools and confidential documentation
• Effectively utilize Canvas learning management system
• Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance to ensure accuracy
• Meet all university deadlines for syllabi and grade submission

Physical Requirements

• Mobility: Able to move between buildings and attend classes, meetings, and functions across campus.
• Speaking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, professionally, and with a contextually appropriate tone and volume.
• Cognitive/Emotional: Ability to critically think and express emotions and thoughts in an honest, collegial, constructive, and prudent manner.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

This position is a part-time position in the Cline School of Music and reports first to the director of music education, and then to the Associate Dean of the School.

WORK SCHEDULE

The working hours of the University are M-F 8:00-5:00, however the Elementary Music Methods course typically meets 4:00-6:30 on Mondays during the spring semester.

• Master's degree in Music Education or a related music field
• Preference will be given to applicants holding a terminal degree
• Experience and a passion for teaching
• Understand and comply with FERPA regulations
