Adjunct Faculty at Mat-Su College/Palmer - Writing & English (for Credit)

Matanuska-Susitna College is recruiting qualified applicants for its pool of part-time adjunct faculty. Duties will include instructing students in the course subject matter and developing the course syllabus, teaching materials, and tests/assessments as needed. Classes may be taught in person, online, or via web meeting.
Mat-Su College is a community campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage located in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, the fastest growing region of Alaska.
Applicants should reside in the State of Alaska and be available to work within Alaska during the length of the assignment as most courses will be taught face-to-face on the campus of Mat-Su College. No relocation expenses will be paid for adjunct instruction.
To thrive in this role, adjunct faculty members must be student-focused, with a strong desire to see students succeed in their academic goals. Timely submission of requested information, such as grades, is expected.
Subject areas include:
English / Writing
Adjunct positions are hired on a semester-by-semester contract basis. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of a contract. Please note in your cover letter the subject(s) you are interested in applying for.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD or Master's degree in English, Composition and Rhetoric, Creative Writing, or TESOL or another discipline related to the teaching of Writing with 2 semesters of post-secondary Writing teaching experience and/or 2 semesters of graduate coursework in Writing pedagogy.
Academic Disciplines:
Varies by discipline; typically, PhD or Master's degree in the appropriate academic area or master's degree with at least 2 semesters of post-secondary Writing teaching experience and/or 2 semesters of graduate coursework in writing pedagogy. Experience teaching college-level courses is preferred.
Vocational Disciplines:
PhD or Master's degree with demonstrated experience and expertise sufficient to perform teaching assignment required. Successful applicants must provide official transcripts documenting academic credentials required for the position as a condition of employment.
Position Details:
This is a part-time, temporary (adjunct) faculty represented position. New hires will be placed on the adjunct salary schedule as outlined in the UNAD CBA, based on education and experience. Salary is based on the number of previous semesters teaching experience within the University of Alaska.
