Job Description:

Job Summary

The Adjunct Faculty - Night Shift will be responsible for but not limited to, the clinical and lab education of nursing students in an academic setting or a clinical health care environment. Adjunct faculty will be scheduled by the Director of Clinical Resources/designee or the Director of the Skills and Simulation laboratory on a per diem basis for clinical and laboratory assignments.

Essential Functions

  • Interacts and collaborates with faculty team members, preceptors and nursing service personnel to facilitate optimum lab, online and clinical learning experiences for students
  • Teaches in the clinical/campus laboratory and clinical seminars in accordance with curriculum standards and outcomes
  • Facilitates discussions about accepted methods of nursing practice with students during or after the clinical day is completed
  • Consults with nursing faculty in developing clinical learning activities in conformity with outcome of the nursing program and accreditation standards
  • Assigns students to patients and observes performance in actual nursing situations in a clinical setting
  • Evaluates student performance and maintains necessary records of students' progress
  • Assists students through observational and participative experiences to apply nursing theory, the nursing process and nursing techniques in clinical settings
  • Counsels students on clinical performance, facilitates problem solving processes, and offers guidance and assistance as needed
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited institution
  • Registered Nurse in the state of Nevada or is eligible for licensure
  • Two years' experience in a clinical specialty
  • PREFERENCE - Pediatric and maternal newborn experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Individual must possess the knowledge and following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:

  • Ability to meet challenges of adult students with diverse backgrounds
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Expertise in clinical nursing specialty area
  • Expertise in didactic or clinical teaching methodologies
  • Intermediate Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to operate effectively within the organizational structure
  • Able to demonstrate trustworthiness and responsible behavior
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems

Work Conditions

  • Work is primarily indoors, but requires the incumbent to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between local campus buildings, off campus, and to other Roseman University facilities out-of-state
  • Performing duties and attending events outside the normally scheduled work hours occasionally occurs and is required
  • Incumbent may be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones, office machines, and nearby oral communications among University personnel and/or students

Required Physical Abilities

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time
  • Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents
  • Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, handwritten forms, and printed on paper
  • Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone
  • Ability to lift and carry a stack of forms and documents weighing up to 25 pounds
