Job Description Laurel Ridge Community College is accepting applications for adjunct part-time faculty (day, evening, and weekend) positions for a Communications adjunct. Adjunct Faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course semester basis as needed. Responsibilities include teaching college-level courses which may include distance learning on and off-campus courses during the day, evening, and weekends.

This position will be located on the Middletown Campus in Middletown, Virginia. The course will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays during the Daytime.

Please note: Applicants must reside in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, or DC.

Adjunct/Continuing Education Faculty listings are on a continuous open until filled basis. Applicants will be contacted on an as-needed basis.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Rate: The rate per credit hour will commensurate with education and relevant or teaching experience.
  • Benefits: The position is part-time and, as such, is not eligible for health or leave benefits. However, the position may offer educational benefits through our professional development and educational assistance policies.

Telework Policy According to DHRM policy 1.61, Teleworking effective July 5, 2022, Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Consistent with pre-pandemic policies, telework may be an option for certain eligible positions. KSAs / Required Qualifications

  • Masters in Communication or Masters with 18 credits of Communications.
  • The ability to use instructional technology is required.

Additional Considerations

  • Occupational experience in the field.
  • Experience with Canvas or other online course management tools.
  • College-level teaching experience (online experience a plus).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • The ability to work with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
