Position Summary:
Franklin University, a private, independent, accredited, not-for-profit University located in Columbus, Ohio invites applicants for its Adjunct Faculty-Psychology position during our Fall 2026 term. The Adjunct Faculty role includes primary responsibility for providing quality instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment with an emphasis placed on teaching, supporting and evaluating students.
Course Description:
A survey of the various fields of study comprising modern scientific psychology. The course examines the theories, research findings, and applications in each of the major areas of psychology, with the goal of providing students with practice information they can apply to their personal and professional lives. The topic areas covered in the course include learning and memory, motivation and emotion, human development, theories of personality, psychopathology, and social behavior.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching a general education psychology course according to the curriculum, content, and outcomes as specified by the Lead Faculty responsible for the course.
- Timely assessment and evaluation of student assignments including exams, quizzes, papers, homework, discussions and other activities related to the course including assessment of overall student mastery of material and subject matter content.
- Monitoring and advising students on course related work, prompt correspondence via email, facilitation of course related discussions, holding of regular office hours to augment student learning, and other assigned responsibilities corresponding to the faculty teaching assignment.
- Participation in adjunct psychology faculty meetings/retreats and associated departmental activities as identified by the Lead Faculty for the assigned course, Department Chair, or College Dean.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Faculty
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum qualifications include an M.S. or M.A. degree (or equivalent) or terminal degree in psychology or a closely related field, or a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in psychology.
- Psychology-based professional experience in business management, human resources or human services, or work experience in one of the sub-disciplines of psychology, i.e., organizational, biological, clinical, etc.
- Previous college-level teaching experience in psychology, or psychology-related courses.

- Knowledge of higher education regulations, compliance and accrediting agencies
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner and work effectively with faculty, staff, students and members of the professional community
- Excellent multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills and Characteristics:
- Doctorate degree in psychology, counseling, or a psychology related discipline and an undergraduate degree in psychology.
- Five years of employment involving the application of psychological principles.
- Three years of teaching experience at the college or university level in the classroom and online. The ability to work with adult learners with diverse backgrounds
- State-level Psychologist or Licensed Professional Counselor.
