Position Overview

The Department of Communication, Journalism and Media at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor for our Graphic Design major for the Fall 2026 semester.

COM 213 Typography. This course introduces students to the basics of typographic techniques and design aesthetics and provides an overview of the basic fundamentals of type design as they apply to graphics, advertising, the arts, and other areas of visual communication. The course focuses on how typography can be used as a communicative device as well as a graphic, compositional, and expressive element.

The course meets in-person and is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:50-4:20 p.m.

Salary is $4,215.98 for a 3-credit course. Please note that a full course is considered to have 9 students enrolled in the course. If a section is not full, 8 or fewer enrollees, the salary is prorated based on the number of students enrolled in the course.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • M.A. or higher in Graphic Design or related field.

  • Experience in teaching Graphic Design at the college level.

  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.
